Position Summary
The Controls Specialist Technician troubleshoots and maintains controls and electrical systems onsite. Documents issues and possible changes.
Responsibilities
- Performs Allen Bradley (AB) PLC controllevel issue diagnosis using ladder logic and Control View HMI.
- Follows change management process and develops adhoc PLC ladder code changes using Rockwell RSLogix family IDEs 5000 preferred).
- Utilizes AutoCAD to review develop and maintain electrical schematic and conveyor layout drawings.
- Conducts incident followup root cause analysis and documentation.
- Documents control system and equipment configuration changes.
- Mentors automation technicians providing guidance and feedback to improve performance.
- Completes assigned safety training.
- Ensures compliance with safety programs policies and procedures.
- Oncall availability as needed.
- Must possess a passport along with the ability to travel to Canada and Mexico.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; prefer a 2year professional electrical training degree or bachelors degree in computer science Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Allen Bradley (AB) PLC controllevel issue diagnosis using ladder logic and Control View HMI.
- At least 2 years of experience with AutoCAD for control layout design and schematics
- Proficiency in AB PLC processors (CompactLogix and ControlLogix preferred) and input/output modules. Familiarity with nonAB control systems including Siemens and Mitsubishi .
- Ability to install maintain and troubleshoot various control components including photo eyes motor starters relays limit switches proximity sensors timers solenoids Servo drives frequency inverters linear drives tachometers and encoders.
- Familiarity with PLC programs and adeptness at troubleshooting ladder logic CPU back plains I/O boards counters modules devices and communications modules (Ethernet).
- Capability to execute assigned project tasks.
- Strong reasoning analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Proficiency in interpreting and modifying mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Competency in utilizing SCADA systems and KPIs.
- Ability to provide training to colleagues with lesser skills.
- Accessibility to all levels and areas of the facility.
- Interpretation and application of policies and procedures.
- Project management experience.
- Intermediate computer skills including MS Office.
- Customer service orientation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
