About the Team:
Our Technology team drives the evolution of our Technology Engineering Data Product and User Experience functions. With a keen focus on delivering cuttingedge solutions we shape the digital landscape for our customers readers and users. From revolutionizing visuals to optimizing tools and harnessing the power of data mobile video and social platforms our team is committed to providing a seamless and immersive experience across all touchpoints. Collaborating closely with our newsrooms and strategic partners we spearhead the development of groundbreaking products and technologies.
About the Role:
We are looking for software engineers who want to be part of a growing technology team. Help us redefine the storytelling experience at one of the largest media sites on the web. In this particular role youll work with the Barrons team alongside other Dow Jones products to bring our site to new levels of user engagement and technology optimisation. This role will report to the Sr Manager Engineering.
You Will:
- Successfully collaborate with engineers across other Dow Jones products to understand and improve standards of code development for shared applications and services
- Learn about new technologies and be able to present pros and cons of adoption in terms of business value scalability maintainability and project delivery performance
- Influence designers and product team to define goals that bring the most value to Barrons and aligns with the technical standards set
- Be able to prioritize and manage work adhering to critical project timelines in a fastpaced environment
You Have:
- 24 years experience developing web applications as a full stack developer
- Proven understanding of Computer Science fundamentals including web development serviceoriented architecture cloud computing test driven development and domain driven design
- Strong understanding of Javascript and the best practices around the web
- Understanding of capabilities with HTML5 and DOM manipulation
- Advanced CSS Knowledge: Grid Flexbox Media Queries
- Fluency in Node.js
- Exposure to Docker AWS or other cloud or container based application deployment a plus
- Experience with technologies: ExpressJs React Redis NextJs Terraform Webpack
- Experience with market data charts and/or real time web updates via WebSockets etc. a plus
