Job Summary:
The Coordinator of Literacy K12 is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team working collaboratively with educators support staff and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a office environment overseen by the Coordinator of Literacy K12 where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.
All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

Primary Function: The Coordinator of Literacy provides essential support to the Assistant Director of Literacy (K12 by facilitating the implementation of districtwide literacy initiatives managing program logistics and ensuring effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders. This role assists in coordinating professional learning data analysis and resource development to support the consistent implementation of the Science of Reading (SOR) and evidencebased literacy practices across all grade levels with an added emphasis on effective writing instruction. The coordinator serves as a key liaison between the Assistant Director schools and district departments ensuring the efficient of literacy programs and initiatives contributing to improved student literacy outcomes and fostering a culture of lifelong learning.

Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Level 5 certificate or higher. Educational Leadership certification preferred.
Reading Endorsement and/or Science of Reading credentialling required.
Minimum five 5 years of successful teaching experience
School leadership experience required.
Demonstrated leadership in K12 literacy instruction
Demonstrated experience with leading professional development and/or program implementation
Excellent communication organization and interpersonal skills required
Proficiency with spreadsheets and data analysis and the ability to use the data to inform instructional decisions
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:
Support the Assistant Director in the development review and implementation of K12 literacy curricula aligned with the Science of Reading adolescent literacy and writing strategies ensuring alignment with state ELA standards.
Develop and deliver comprehensive professional learning to build organizational capacity for literacy leadership and continuous improvement.
Develop and disseminate curriculum resources (lesson plans pacing guides instructional materials) to support effective literacy instruction.
Facilitate the vertical alignment of literacy instruction across grade levels.
Promote and model evidencebased literacy instruction integrating writing to enhance comprehension and critical thinking.
Conduct classroom observations and provide targeted coaching and feedback on evidencebased literacy practices.
Provide evidencebased professional development and support in early literacy adolescent reading writing instruction and formative assessment.
Guide teachers in implementing differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Design and implement differentiated K12 literacy interventions grounded in the Science of Reading.
Guide school administrators and teachers in using literacy resources and assessment tools effectively.
Support the integration and utilization of digital literacy tools and platforms in classrooms.
Manage the inventory distribution and maintenance of literacy resources and materials.
Oversee the analysis of literacy assessment data to inform datadriven instructional decisions and support school leaders.
Assist in collecting organizing and reporting literacy data to support program evaluation and improvement.
Collaborate with literacy teams content coordinators and school administrators to ensure alignment of instructional strategies and resources.
Facilitate communication and collaboration among district departments principals and teachers to ensure cohesive literacy instruction.
Manage communication projects and reporting for K12 literacy initiatives including organizing meetings and developing teams.
Build and maintain strong relationships with school leaders teachers and district staff.
Assist in coordinating and supporting family and community literacy engagement activities.
Assist in managing literacy program budgets and expenditures.
Assist in monitoring school compliance with state and federal literacy mandates.
Stay current with literacy education trends state and federal requirements and evidencebased practices.
Support the implementation of new literacy initiatives and technologies.
