Job DescriptionAs a Lead Experience Designer on the Experience Design Team you are one of the organizations toplevel craft experts deeply involved in the work and setting the standard for design excellence. You lead by example producing highquality innovative solutions that elevate the quality of the entire teams output. Lead Experience Designers are handson defining complex design systems and frameworks that set the bar for visual and interaction design across projects. You will help push the boundaries of what great design looks like tackling largescale ambiguous problems and shaping the future of design within your product areas. Lead Experience Designers are also mentors you will guide other designers in honing their craft offering precise and actionable feedback and championing a culture of continuous improvement.
This role is hybrid which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or another nonBest Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
What youll do- Lead highlevel concept designs that define product vision and influence strategic direction
- Develop and refine visual interaction and system frameworks ensuring scalability consistency and innovation across products and channels
- Create compelling narratives that clearly communicate design direction and strategic goals influencing crossfunctional teams and executive stakeholders
- Advocate for design systems and pattern expansion driving alignment across teams and ensuring at scale
- Push the boundaries of excellence by establishing best practices mentoring others and fostering a culture of continuous learning
- Champion a customercentric mindset by leveraging data and business strategy to inform design decisions ensuring solutions align with user needs and broader enterprise objectives
Basic qualifications- 8 years of experience in a design delivery role (e.g. Interaction Designer Information Architect Visual Designer Product Designer etc. with 2 or more of these years in a Senior Designer or equally leveled individual contributor role
- 4 years of experience collaborating with business partners and technical and product teams
- 2 years of indirect team leadership experience to include coaching mentoring work direction
- Expertise in experience design tools design thinking systems thinking and facilitation methods
- Demonstrated ability to envision define and model endtoend multichannel customer experiences
Preferred qualifications- Bachelors degree in HumanCentered Design Product Design HumanComputer Interaction Graphic Design Information Architecture or a related field
- 3 years of experience in eCommerce or large multichannel environments
- Strong portfolio showcasing advanced experience design and leadership skills
- Expert ability to communicate design concepts build consensus and articulate decisions
