We work with children adults and their families providing a holistic approach to hearing services for newborns through to people over 90 years old and helping children who are blind or have low vision to develop the right skills mobility and independence to confidently explore their world.

Today we deliver worldclass education (both to children with sensory loss and to professionals in the field) cochlear implants allied health services therapy research and clinical services to children and adults. Our new worldleading centre for innovation onsite at Macquarie University NSW represents a new era for hearing and vision loss. This nationally significant social infrastructure project was undertaken to nurture trial and share new ideas and form new partnerships that will drive better outcomes for people who are deaf hard of hearing blind or have low vision.While the centre is based in Macquarie its impact will extend across the country to all our sites and your role from our Liverpool office will be essential in bringing these advancements to life.



Description

The Role

NextSense has an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join our team at Liverpool. This is a permanent fulltime role working 38 hours per week reports directly to the Network Manager. Youll make a difference in this role by:

  • providing high quality clientcentred services that assist individuals with vision and hearing loss to achieve their goals and aspirations
  • implementing best practice services for clients in clinical and educational settings
  • providingevidencebased assessment intervention supports and other strategies to assist clients in achievingoutcomes
  • delivering services in person via telepractice in a NextSense centre client home school or other appropriate setting
  • usinga person/family centred framework when providing services
  • developing delivering and evaluating Individual Support Plansand progress reports with the client their family and relevant others

Skills And Experiences

To be successful in this role youll need to demonstrate you meet the following selection criteria.

Essential:

  • Bachelor in occupational therapy or equivalent
  • Professional membership with theAustralian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (Ahpra)
  • Minimum 3 years experience providing occupational therapy services
  • Demonstrates sound clinical skills and knowledge
  • Works collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Contributes to client outcomes in a team setting
  • Valid drivers licence
  • Working With Children Check
  • NDIS Worker Check

Desirable:

  • Prior experience working with clients with a sensory disability
  • Working knowledge of theNational Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)framework
  • Willing to learn new systems processes and frameworks
