Position Overview

As communities face severe housing shortages and increasing housing costs rapidly changing energy needs and aging roads and transit Arnold Ventures Infrastructure portfolio aims to bolster the countrys ability to build the necessary infrastructure faster better and at lower cost. This includes supporting policymakers at the federal state and local levels to craft and implement solutions; identifying and removing barriers that unnecessarily slow down building timelines and add costs; and working to enhance the capacity of government to effectively support delivering on the promise of major infrastructure investments. The team works with experts from inside and outside government to reform the infrastructure system through evidence generation policy development communications technical assistance and advocacy to support policy change.


The Energy and Permitting portfolio focuses on 1 advancing scalable technology solutions to meet the worlds rising energy demand while mitigating the negative effects of climate change and 2 modernizing government permitting processes across all sectors to improve efficiency and focus on outcomes. As part of this work we seek to remove barriers to the rapid deployment of energy projects and an expanded electricity grid which are needed to meet changing and growing energy needs reliably and affordably.


We are seeking an Analyst to provide research analytical and operational support to the Infrastructure teams Energy and Permitting portfolio. This individual will work closely with team members on substantive policyoriented projects and gain experience in supporting the development and management of highimpact philanthropic projects on these issues. The Analyst will be based in our Washington D.C. office and report to the VP of Infrastructure Energy and Permitting.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 13 years of experience in a related field is preferred including parttime work or internships; experience in positions involving policy reform research and/or project management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to summarize and communicate key takeaways to diverse nontechnical audiences
  • Ability to analyze problems assess potential solutions and articulate tradeoffs
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills

The salary range for this position will be $80000$90000.

Requirements
  • Provide analytical and operational support for the Infrastructure teams funding initiatives including active collaboration with team members on grants management and team process management
  • Conduct research/analysis for the Infrastructure team on energy and permitting initiatives policies and other subject areas of interest while leveraging the same to help develop projects and policy recommendations
  • Manage grants and investments track progress and impact and draw lessons from the investments to inform strategic priorities and the development of future investments
  • Develop materials for Arnold Ventures Board Executive Vice President of Infrastructure and other individuals in collaboration with team members
  • Support tracking analyzing and summarizing policy developments external events research and policy papers and environment related to the teams focus areas
  • Actively contribute to team meetings regarding projects suggesting new internal initiatives and brainstorming areas for improvement
