General Summary:

Manages the professional and operational activities of the department assuring high quality accurate efficient and complete pharmacy services. Coordinates the daytoday activities of the department. Responsible for the efficient use of both physical and human resources. Facilitates the operation and growth of Pharmacy Services and its staff members through encouragement education and mentorship.

Area Specific Job Accountabilities

Manages the professional and operational activities of the department. Assures high quality accurate efficient and complete pharmacy services.
Supervises coordinates and organizes the daytoday operational activities in the pharmacy and has authority and accountability for the management of pharmacy employees.
Oversees the provision of safe effective and efficient operational aspects of pharmacy services including but not limited to: medication procurement storage security preparation and distribution.
Organizes and prioritizes the pharmacy workload and collaborates with technicians pharmacists and management team to effectively manage daily operations.
Routinely evaluates pharmacy services and identifies develops and implements ways to improve productivity and efficiency.
Ensures adequate staffing to perform the daily departmental functions. Oversees scheduling of pharmacists and technicians. Manges staffing in case of unplanned absences and redirects staff when necessary.
Staffs and performs duties of a Clinical Pharmacist. The percentage of online and offline time will be determined by the Pharmacy Senior Director and is dependent on the area that is being managed and can range from 20 to 100 offline.
Leads and/or participates in the pharmacy employee recruitment process.
Coordinates staff development and training in medication distribution workflows compounding/ preparation of medications high risk medications handling of hazardous and ensures pharmacy staff is competent to perform job functions with routine maintenance and auditing.
Measures the performance of pharmacy staff and when appropriate oversees employees corrective action plans in disciplinary situations according to the organizations policies and in coordination with the Human Resources.
Oversees timekeeping and productivity for staff and addresses variances to expectations according to system and departmental policies.
Conducts annual performance appraisals for direct reports.
Remains updated on regulatory requirements and ensures compliance with all regulatory standards including but not limited to The Joint Commission Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) United States Pharmacopeia (USP)IL State Board of Pharmacy and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
Ensures pharmacy activities are performed in accordance with all applicable Federal and State laws applicable regulatory bodies and policies and procedures of the organization and the department. Ensures that policies and procedures are properly administered. Develops new policies and procedures; and routinely evaluates and updates existing policies and procedures as needed.
Coordinates the performance of all aspects of the quality improvement and quality control program of the department. Assists in maintaining quality data collection systems that enable monitoring of service levels.
Coordinates and implements activities related to formulary maintenance and management of drug shortages.
Serves on interdisciplinary committees as a pharmacy liaison and subject matter expert on pharmacy services procedures and activities.
Attends and participates in internal or external user groups and professional organizations to enhance professional knowledge.
Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients families coworkers and others. Creates an environment of high morale and motivated professionals. Works cooperatively with other staff members to enhance the team concept

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Graduate from an American Council for Pharmaceutical Education accredited College of Pharmacy required. Advanced degree residency or specialized training in pediatrics preferred.
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Pharmacist by the State of Illinois.
Prior hospital and leadership experience preferred.
Excellent communication and presentation skills. Has essential team building skills.
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
Knowledge of Pharmacy Operations Best Practices.

Pay Range

$135200.00$223080.00 Salary

At Lurie Childrens we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity reflecting individual contributions experience and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
