Thefundamental reason this classification exists is to protect property visitorsand employees while enforcing the security rules and regulations. Primary work responsibilities may include: patrollingbuildings structures and/or grounds; utilizing surveillance equipment toobserve staff patrons and other visitors; investigating and takingappropriate action when alarms are activated or unusual situations occur;completing and submitting work orders; and interacting with patrons visitorsand staff members. Employee works underthe direction of the Museum Chief Security Officer.
Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and insurable driving record in order to drive city vehicles for Zoo positions. Must submit to a background check due to the nature of the position. Must obtain an Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board Responsible Vendor certification and be CPR/ADE certified within six months of employment for Museum positions. Work requires rotating shift work nights weekends special events and holidays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to walk stand and remain alert for the duration of the assigned shift as needed to perform security duties and patrol assigned areas. Must be able to climb stairs and a ladder at a height of 14 feet as needed to perform inspections of both the interior and the exterior of the facility. Must be willing to work outside as needed to perform security duties.
