Summer Camp Director

The City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department is in search of energetic and funloving people for parttime temporary Summer Camp Director position to operate the 2025 Summer Camps.
The City of Falls Church is an independent city six miles from the nations capital. It is small in area 2.2 square miles) and population (about 16000 people). The City is known for its urban village community quality customer service nationally ranked school system environmental activism and endless community activities.
A director is needed to operate our Summer Fun playground program for children ages 5 through 12. The individual selected will be responsible for planning organizing supervising and evaluating all aspects of the Summer Fun playground program. The camp meets in Cherry Hill Park and has use of the Falls Church Community Center. ;
- Responsibilities
The Director assists with the hiring process and is responsible for the training of counselors creation and implementation of weekly themes and activities and planning and scheduling of a weekly field trip or entertainment visitor to the camp. The Director supervises a staff of eight counselors one head counselor and 20 Counselors in Training. The Director provides a safe and fun environment for approximately 115 campers per week. Additional tasks include organizing camper paperwork communicating regularly with parents dispensing medication as needed and documenting all incidents and accidents. - Qualifications
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and be a graduate from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation leisure services education or a related field. Applicants must have at least two years in a camp setting and a minimum of five years experience working with children. Applicants must have or have the ability to achieve before June 1 2025 CPR and First Aid certification as well as a Medication Administration Training certificate. Extensive experience in working with youth can be substituted for education. - Hours
Precamp planning hours are flexible. Camp dates are June 16 through August 8 2025. Camper hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Director hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. - Salary
The rate is $25.00 per hour with no benefits.
