Job Description

Summary of Position:

Turning Points is one of the largest social service agencies in Philadelphia supporting the needs of more than 10000 men women and children throughout the city. We offer programs that help families in raising safe healthy educated and strong children by partnering with caregivers to develop and strengthen protective qualities and by offering them the tools skills and resources needed to ensure their childrens optimal development.


The Lead Case Manager is responsible for supporting the ELECT (Education Leading to Employment and Career Training) Program for pregnant and parenting students to a broad array of academic and social services to help them stay in school graduate and successfully transition to employment. The ELECT program always works to connect the students to educational and cultural activities that promote students understanding of children development nurturing parenting practices and exposes students to experiences that help them and their children grow and thrive.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Program Manager the ELECT LCM/ will:
Maintain a caseload of between 1215 students and work with the students directly at their school and/or community sites on a weekly. The Case Manager will also conduct home visits on a quarterly basis.
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with partner schools to support student recruitment retention and resource coordination; attainment of school records; and ensure students can thrive at home school and work (when applicable).
Assist with the development of outreach materials and marketing strategies that support recruitment and retention of students receiving services and those eligible to receive ELECT services. Ensure all students are invited to weekly workshops and all cultural activities.
Work collaboratively with program manager to develop workshop content for program participants and lead weekly workshops.
Attend and participate in ELECT team meetings department meetings and required training activities including local and state conferences. Stay informed on research and best practices of supporting/engaging expectant and parenting teens/young adults.
Assist Program Manager with the onboarding and training of all ELECT case management staff.
Support undergraduate and graduate student interns (engage in orientation training peer site visits).
Complete additional tasks as needed within scope of position.

Position Requirements:
Bachelors degree required; Masters Degree preferred
Evidence of experience working with expectant and parenting youth and families experience with ELECT program preferred.
Knowledge of human development with a focus on children and adolescents child development assessment and clinical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in using a personal computer including Word Outlook and the Internet.
Current Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Criminal History Check and FBI Clearance.
Solid knowledge of the ELECT program policies and procedures primarily relating to service delivery and data reporting requirements.

Technical Skills:
Understanding of child adolescent adult and family functioning.
Knowledge of challenges associated of teen parenting
Knowledge of and ability to identify environmental factors that impact families.
Knowledge of and collaboration with social service providers and community resources.
Cultural competency ability to empower and involve others; problemsolving and conflict management skills; and developing community resources and cooperative working relationships with others.
A strong belief in the value of being father inclusive and valuing fathers as assets to their children.
Promotes the belief in the use of noncorporal means of discipline for the children.
