Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Masters degree
- Valid Texas educational diagnostician certificate or valid Texas license as a licensed specialist in school psychology (or enrolled in a practicum)
- Previous experience as an educational diagnostician or LSSP in a public school setting preferred
- Knowledge of evaluation procedures (achievement intellectual emotional and behavioral) education of special education students human development and learning theories
- Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers parents and students
- Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct evaluations and collaborate/coordinate with multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated evaluations within timelines compliant with state and federal requirements
- Demonstrate high degree of knowledge understanding and skill regarding special education compliance mandated by federal regulations and state rules.
- Coordinate schedule and participate in ARD meetings
- Work with parents to help them understand the special education process
- Collaborate with local agencies physicians as needed
- Provide consultative assistance to teachers upon request (including academicand nonacademic strategies assistance with IEP goals and objectives etc.
- Respond to suggestions for improvement in a positive growthminded manner
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services
