  • 27711 per annum (pro rata for part time)
  • 37 hours per week Flexible working options available
  • Fixed term or Secondment for 12 months (Maternity Cover)

Do you thrive in a dynamic challenging and rewarding role Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is seeking a Risk and Resilience Support Officer to join our Risk and Resilience Team helping to identify assess and mitigate risks across the county. In this vital role you will help identify assess and mitigate risks across Suffolk ensuring the safety of our community. Your role and responsibilities

As a Risk and Resilience Support Officer you will play a key role in gathering and collating risk information on premises and sites across Suffolk for our operational crews. This information is vital in enabling crews to carry out their duties as safely as possible.

Heres a glimpse into what your typical week will look like:

  • Conducting and managing the Operational Risk Inspection process including site visits and compiling Operational Risk Information within recognised guidelines.
  • Maintaining Operational Risk information of various platforms
  • Coordinating the Operational Risk Inspection schedule to ensure service measures are met.
  • Providing district support as a single point of contact for Operational Risk
  • Providing guidance at Local Authority Safety Advisory Group meetings ensuring plans are accurate and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintaining the SFRS areas within Resilience Direct including sharing crossborder information.

You will need

  • Practical knowledge of SFRS fire stations the generic fire and rescue service departmental structure operational incident categories mobilising arrangements and operational procedures and terminology.
  • Strong IT skills including excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 products
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to share knowledge and present new information to others potentially in a formal setting.
  • Able to work to multiple deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively to meet tight deadlines particularly in relation to important risk information.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a passion for creating and maintaining efficient and effective processes and procedures.

The team

The Operational Risk Team at SFRS plays a critical role in gathering assessing and collating detailed risk information on premises and sites across Suffolk. This essential information ensures that our operational crews are wellprepared and equipped with the necessary details to carry out their duties safely and efficiently. By identifying potential hazards and risks within the local area the team contributes to effective decisionmaking during emergency response situations.

Our team culture is built on collaboration communication and trust. We thrive on working closely together bringing our collective knowledge and expertise to ensure that all aspects of risk information are captured and processed effectively.

Our teams operate in various locations across the county. This role is aligned with the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) within the North district although there may be occasions where you are required to work at other locations across the county.
