Functional Description:


Davis Defense Group (DDG) has begun initial screenings for a CSC Blended Seminar Instructor supporting the College of Distance Education and Training (CDET) Program in Quantico Virginia. The CSC Blended Seminar Program executes in three parts with an initial resident seminar period a nonresident (online) seminar period and a final resident period. The program in Quantico is executed once per Academic Year (AY).


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete required Faculty Orientation prior to teaching and periodically afterwards per CDET policy.
  • Conduct Socratic style onsite and online seminars using CDET approved curricula (teaching materials faculty guides and faculty LSS sites) and following the approved teaching schedule.
  • Grade students papers essays planning products and other subjective grading requirements as specified in CDET course closeout policies and timelines using CDET prescribed rubrics.
  • Remediate students who fail exams by providing additional personal instruction.
  • Enforce the CDET academic integrity policy and ensure strict enforcement of test security and integrity.
  • Ensure LSS enrollment of eligible students into courses and provide students limited basic LSS support.
  • Complete a faculty end of course (EOC) survey for each course and encourage completion of student EOC surveys via the LSS at the completion of each course.
  • Provide research and evaluation support to CSCDEP/BSP curriculum development efforts.
  • Participate in no more than eight 8 hours of local faculty development per AY as determined by the CSCDEP Associate Dean.
  • Attend the annual CDET Faculty workshop (normally 5 consecutive days) at Quantico VA in the summer months.

Required Experience:

  • DoD service as a field grade officer or civilian.
  • A graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College (resident school distance education or blended seminar programs) other service Intermediate Level School (ILS) School of Advanced Warfighting (SAW) or Top Level School (TLS).
  • Teaching experience preferably using the Socratic method.

Desired Experience:

  • Joint Qualified Officer or Joint duty background.
  • Experience with DoD education initiatives like OutcomesBased Military Education (OBME).
  • Experience with wargaming tools in historical and future naval and joint scenarios to examine tactics operations and strategy.
  • Experience with onsite and both asynchronous and synchronous online teaching techniques and strategies.
  • Experience with Learning Management/Support Systems (LMS/LSS e.g. Moodle).

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree required; Masters Degree desired with emphasis on Military American European or Diplomatic History; or in Strategic Studies International Relations or related field.
