Responsibilities

The Data Analyst will engage in a wide variety of projects central to enhancing Berkley Custom analytics and reporting capabilities within the actuarial team. Key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Developing queries and reports for actuarial department and executive team as requested.
  • Developing and automating recurring and ad hoc reports for a multitude of audiences across all products regions and management to support business needs and underwriting results
  • Performing data validations and reconciliations between various sources and reports with precision and attention to detail to ensure deliverables are accurate and effective
  • Preparing reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing information on key metrics specific to functional area(s)
  • Helping manage transition from legacy systems into more efficient systems and solutions.
  • Identifying and analyzing information needs and flow for design development and maintenance.
  • Constructing reports within Microsoft Excel and Power BI that aid Underwriting in making correct strategic decisions in reaching profitability and growth goals.
  • Developing and maintaining Financial Planning Budgeting and Forecasting visuals.
  • Analyzing complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to analysts and decision makers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a related field (mathematics business finance data science/information technology).
  • 2 years of experience in a datarelated role with working knowledge of information systems ideally in the insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel Outlook Word PowerPoint) VBA and SQL required.
    Intermediate knowledge of Power BI R and Python ideal.
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to multitask adapt and prioritize multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to work outside normal work schedule to fulfill responsibilities and travel on occassion.
