Description:
The Dental Hygienist provides patient education intraoral and extraoral screenings of every patient seen prophylaxis cleaning and polishing of teeth and Root Scaling and Planing for periodontal disease per practice protocols and as directed by the dentist. This role supports the organizations mission vision and values while adhering to compliance protocols and policies.
Position Requirements:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome all assigned patients.
- Conduct a medical and dental history review with every patient contacting outside physicians when appropriate before care.
- Complete a thorough intraoral and extraoral exam for all patients.
- Take dental radiographs when appropriate.
- Provide prophylaxis cleaning and polishing of teeth.
- Perform root scaling and planing of teeth.
- Provide appropriate patient education e.g. periodontal disease.
- Confer with the treating dentist on all patients seen.
- Make necessary referrals to specialists based on practice guidelines.
- Document all patient activities in the patient chart.
- Set up and break down treatment rooms between patients.
- Perform lab tasks pertinent to the role as assigned by the clinical manager and/or dentist.
- Follow all safety protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.
Admin/Reception Duties:
- Answer phones as needed.
- Schedule new and established patient appointments as needed.
- In instances where a late emergency arrives support the Dental Center Practice Manager or the dentist on duty by supporting the care team with service through the patients final discharge.
- Observe and cooperate with the security of the Dental center at all times.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Must have graduated with an Associates in Dental Hygiene from an accredited school.
- Must have a valid Massachusetts license to practice as a Dental Hygienist.
- Maintain a current CPR license.
- Be efficient and proficient in Dentrix and any other software required at the Dental Center.
- Attend continuing education meetings at the dental center when scheduled.
Skills and Certifications:
- Must have a valid Massachusetts license to practice as a Dental Hygienist.
- Must have graduated with an Associates in Dental Hygiene from an accredited school.
- Maintain a current CPR license.
Education and/or Experience:
- 1 to 2 years of experience
- Seniority Level: Associate
- Minimum Education: Associates Degree
