Primary Purpose
The PartTime Instructor provides instruction in Art & Design courses directs student discussion and evaluates student performance in the classroom studio or lab under the direction of the Program Director and Fine Arts & Communication Department Chair.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Provide instruction in area of discipline using approved course outcome guides. Teaching assignments may be during the day (including early morning) evening or weekend and could include classes taught at any of the College campuses online or remotely. Adhere to instructional plans which guide student instruction according to established student learning outcomes. Hold at least one scheduled office hour per class per week for student help sessions and program assistance. Assist with program outreach as needed. Cooperate with fulltime faculty efforts to revise and standardize curricula for classes within the certificate program. Participate in course assessment. Attend regular trainings as scheduled by the department or College. Utilize College tools and resources including the Learning Management System and Disability Services software to support teaching activities as appropriate. Perform other essential job functions as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Masters Degree in the field of primary teaching assignment from an accredited institution; or a minimum of 30 quarter hours 20 semester hours) of graduate credit in academic courses in the field of the primary teaching assignment. Experience: Mastery in one or more of the following emphasis areas: art history foundational art drawing painting watercolor printmaking ceramics metal arts graphic design digital illustration product design animation or game development. Extensive art/design experience and evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
Visual arts teaching experience. Online teaching experience. One year experience working as a practicing artist designer animator or game developer. Expertise using industrystandard software for digital art/design.
