Our product group is focused on the origination and of public and private M&A transactions with a particular focus on Infrastructure. The client universe you will interact with includes leading infrastructure investors private equity firms SWFs family offices and EMEA corporates. You will get exposure to a broad set of:
- Sectors including:
- Digital infrastructure (data centers fiber towers);
- Transport (airports tollroads logistics cold storage ports and terminals shipping rail EV infrastructure and parking);
- Energy Power Renewables and Metals and Mining (networks renewables utilities waste water energy storage);
- Business services and social infrastructure (healthcare education and other)
- Regions including countries spanning across the entire Europe Middle East and Africa
- Types of transactions including sellsides buysides publictoprivate carveouts etc.
As an Associate in the Investment Banking EMEA Infrastructure M&A team you will play a central role in advising clients with respect to M&A transactions that have an Infrastructure angle. You will have great exposure in a variety of the landmark M&A transactions that take place in EMEA working closely with country industry and other product teams in the bank whilst being part of a group that consistently ranks as one of the EMEAs preeminent Infrastructure M&A advisory franchises.
You will work with expert professionals at the heart of a leading global investment bank and will get exposure to formal training handson learning opportunities continuous mentoring and feedback and numerous development opportunities. You will develop strong skills in the major areas of investment banking and will be given the opportunity to develop into a senior officer who is capable of generating and executing their own transactions.
Job responsibilities
- Develop highly bespoke and sophisticated M&A processes while working closely with clients and in tandem with industry country and other product teams during origination and stages
- Drive M&A transactions from launch to signing including investor outreach active communication with investors / management and overall transaction management
- Analyse the most suitable investor universe for each transaction and speak to investors as part of the M&A process be it for bilateral partnerships or broader partner identifications
- Develop elaborate financial analyses and valuation models to help clients evaluate investment opportunities potential capital structures or alternative monetarisation paths
- Work closely with management teams to develop comprehensive transaction materials including the preparation of business plans performance analyses due diligence reports and marketing materials
- Transaction specific responsibilities include:
- Designing organising and project managing M&A processes
- Participating in and contributing to M&A structuring discussions & negotiations
- Preparing valuation and other financial return models
- Supporting due diligence deal documentation and announcement preparation
- Regularly liaising with relevant counterparts at the client and other advisers
Required qualifications capabilities and skills
- Several years of fulltime investment banking experience particularly Corporate Finance or M&A
- Strong interest and understanding of M&A and M&A processes having closed at least one sellside or buyside transaction
- Strong desire to achieve optimal transaction outcomes and create value for our clients
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Desire to work across sectors and in particular the Infrastructure sector and have exposure to many different types of M&A transactions (including sellsides buysides caveouts restructurings etc.
- Proficient technical ability and overall corporate finance proficiency including strong modelling skills (LBO DCF DDM) as well as knowledge of broader investment banking products
- Ability to engage in client and investors communications as well as dealing with clients and other advisers
- Ability to take ownership across a transaction with exposure to industry country and product teams
- Ability to show initiative and support across several transactions in parallel managing time appropriately across competing demands
Preferred qualifications capabilities and skills
- Prior experience in executing M&A transactions (from start to end) preferably with a financial sponsor or infrastructure fund related angle
- Prior experience in Infrastructure investment banking or Infrastructure funds
- European language (in addition to English) is desired but not mandatory
This role encompasses the performance of regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness propriety knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the relevant regulatory authorities to carry out such activities.
