Job Description

The State of Montana has a decentralized human resources (HR) system. Each agency is responsible for its own recruitment and selection. Qualifications
As a student intern you are required to show proof of being accepted in or are currently enrolled in an accredited school college or university. Acceptable documents include a copy of your current class schedule for the Fall semester.

Must have current valid Drivers License and clean driving record in accordance with State of Montana Vehicle Use Policy. Must have ability to hike carrying up to 40 lbs of sampling equipment while working in wilderness settings.

Consider joining DEQs Water Quality Standards and Modeling team where we adopt water quality standards to protect Montanas water resources conduct scientific research and develop water quality models.

We are looking for an intern to join our Water Quality Standards and Modeling Section in the Water Quality Division. During the summer the selected intern will work fulltime collecting water quality data in streams and rivers across Montana. This is a great opportunity to travel and learn how to use a variety of chemical physical and biological field methods and sampling equipment. During the academic year the selected intern will work closely with our team of scientists in the office supporting the team with data analysis reporting fieldwork preparations and other tasks. This is an opportunity to improve analytical and research skills and will provide insight into how science is applied in policymaking.

This position is based in Helena.
