Duties And Responsibilities
We seek a highly qualified and enthusiastic mycologist to contribute to our programs. The appointment is 60 research 30 teaching and 10 service. This full time 9month academic year tenuretrack position requires that the successful candidate develop a nationally competitive research program directed at solving issues in mycology relevant to Montana and the region and that addresses Montana State Universitys Grand Challenges ( html). Possible research areas include but are not limited to fungal biology and genomics fungal biochemistry/toxicology forest pathology mycoculture and fermentation science. The successful individual will support their research with extramural funding and publish original research in refereed journals and other appropriate venues. Montana State University prides itself on the quality of its teaching and mentoring programs. In this regard instruction in mycology represents a critical interest for the department college and university. Overall instructional responsibilities include Mycology BIOM 423 and an advanced mycology course to be developed based on the applicants expertise taught in alternate years and a University Biology Core course taught annually. Additional graduate seminars directed studies and other highquality highimpact educational practices are encouraged. The successful candidate will also advise undergraduate and graduate students in academic and research/creative activities that relate to mycology and related programs. Active participation and service to the department college and professional mycology organizations is expected. Outreach efforts throughout Montana are encouraged.
