Job Description

Position Summary
The Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina is seeking applications for a fulltime academic minimally invasive bariatric/foregut and hernia surgeon to join our Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery. The Division of GI Surgery is among 9 Divisions in the Department of Surgery. The Division currently includes faculty members that provide a broad array of clinical services for patients with bariatric/foregut colorectal and hernia disease. In addition the Division of GI Surgery maintains a minimally invasive Advanced GI Surgery fellowship. Patients are referred to our surgeons from across the Southeastern United States for management of a variety of benign and malignant GI disorders via open and laparoscopic approaches. Academic appointment will be commensurate with the candidates experience. The ideal applicant will have a specific interest in growing our bariatric/foregut and hernia surgery programs. Faculty members within the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery will possess a desire to commit to all three missions of the department and school of medicine including the clinical education and research missions. Regarding the education mission faculty members are expected to regularly participate in the education of medical students residents and fellows. Regarding research a commitment to any one of a broad array of research interests is desirable including but not limited to clinical outcomes health services basic science translational ethics education or global surgery research. Regarding the clinical mission faculty members must be committed to delivering highquality clinical care that is of value to the patients of UNC . The selected candidate will be teamoriented and be able to interact well with colleagues inside and outside the Division

Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Robotic experience is preferred.
