Job Description

Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or
experience. Certified upon completion of the Surgical Technologist program or eligible to sit for
certification within six months of being hired. Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical
Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.

Compensation:
Pay Range: $22.35 $36.35 / hour

Our surgical department is one of the largest in the country with more than 55 stateoftheart operating suites.


Surgical technologists are important members of the care team. At UAB a surgical tech work alongside nurses anesthesiologists and surgeons maintaining and preparing instrumentation and equipment to help cases run efficiently and allow us to provide the highest quality care possible. Although technical expertise is important a surgical tech must also be compassionate meet the needs of patients and treat them like they are family. We support our new techs through orientation providing robust training and development opportunities. We encourage you to take advantage of continuing education and we assist with certification. We offer Certified and Non Certified Surgical Technologist positions.

Multiple Shifts Available:
UAB Medicine supports work/life balance. The shifts available for this unit are:
All shifts are Monday Friday
FullTime: 3 12hour shifts per week 6:30am 7:00pm)
FullTime: 312hour shifts per week 8:30am 9:00pm)
FullTime: 410hour shifts per week 6:30am 5:00pm)
FullTime: 58hour shifts per week 6:30am 3:00pm)

Job Description:
To scrub and assist surgical team during basic surgical procedures. To prepare and maintain the environment medical equipment and supplies for surgical procedures. To follow hospital regulations and industry procedures regarding patient care. To preoperatively prepare patient. To transport patient to and from the operating room as required.
