Job Description


CASUAL LIBRARY RESOURCE TECHNICIAN


As a collaborative tame memberCasual Library Resource Technicians are responsible for the efficient daily operation of the library services within an educational setting.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain individual school resource collections including purchasing all print nonprint and audiovideo resources cataloguing materials the circulation of library materials (signout return renewal) and conducting an annual inventory;
  • Assist in the monitoring and planning/ preparation of annual estimates for school library needs;
  • Responsible for sending out overdue notices compiling lists of overdue materials and users with materials owing;
  • Bulletin board preparation;
  • Professional library maintenance vertical file organization and technical service requirements;
  • Shelf reading book shelving;
  • Provide assistance with students including library and research skills instruction reading to students and maintaining routines and rules in the library;
  • Organize and operate book fairs and other promotional activities;
  • Assist staff with resources and reference materials as required;
  • Assist and support Literacy initiatives; and
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a twoyear community college library technician program plus a minimum of 6 months related job experience;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously with students and staff;
  • Ability to take initiative;
  • Familiarity with computers audio visual equipment and the ability to conduct preventive maintenance;
  • Keyboarding minimum 35 words per minute; and
  • Reliable transportation.

Preference is given to individuals in the casual Library Resource Technician Pool for all permanent Library Resource Technician positions.
