DescriptionThe Patient Care Assistant works under the direction of a Registered Nurse to assist in delivery of patient care including personal hygiene and daily activities transporting patients and equipment setting up and maintaining patient rooms and reordering/stocking of supplies. Responsible for coordination of communications and procedures for the nursing unit process electronic orders and assembling patients charts and other necessities.
Work Schedule:20 hrs weekly / .5 FTE; Nights 11pm7:30am and every other weekend.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have one of the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- HS Diploma in progress and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry
- Equivalent work experience in lieu of HS diploma or equivalent may be considered.
- Six 6 months experience in healthcare setting or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry
- Must have strong organizational multitasking and communication skills with a customerservice orientation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrates basic computers skills or the ability to achieve proficiency within 3 months.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patients visitors and coworkers.
- Ability to independently initiate appropriate tasks within the scope of practice of the position.
- Ability to provide individualized care and respond to a variety of patient/family preferences.
- Ability to provide an exceptional patient experience utilizing strong customer service skills.
- Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
- Current BLS American Heart Association or BLS American Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer &Health Care Provider)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry
- HUC or unit clerk experience
- Microsoft office experience
- Prior experience in acute care or hospital setting
- Knowledge of pre and postop surgical/orthopedic and general medical patients
- Knowledge and care in the use of all specialized orthopedic equipment
- Knowledge of routine order sets in Epic
