Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking an experienced collaborative and effective administrator to serve as the Executive Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) Title IX Coordinator and ADA Coordinator. The Executive Director will report directly to the Universitys General Counsel and manage the OEO staff. The Executive Director oversees the implementation administration and monitoring of the Universitys compliance with matters involving Title IX Title VII ADA/504 Affirmative Action Plans and other federal state or local civil rights laws
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Title IX Coordinator duties:
Act as the Universitys Title IX Coordinator
Supervise a civil rights/Title IX investigator.
Oversee the complaint process to ensure prompt effective and compliant processes regarding complaint intake procedures review and implementation of supportive measures conducing the informal resolution process as appropriate and oversight of the formal resolution process including conducting hearings and handling appeals.
Review and update University policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Title IX laws regulations and requirements.
Ensuring proper recording keeping of all actions taken during the complaint process.
Monitor number and outcomes of complaints to identify and address patterns and assess effectiveness of reporting and response efforts including opportunities for improvement.
Provide oversight training and leadership for all Title IX initiatives.
Implement and oversee universitywide training and prevention programs for faculty staff and students related to Title IX.
Develop and distribute written materials and other informational pieces to broadly disseminate information regarding the Universitys policies relating to
Title IX.
Work with campus partners to facilitate an inclusive and safe campus living learning and working environment for faculty staff and students.
Serve as the point person for all Title IX complaints and as the primary contact for government inquiries from the Office for Civil Rights (interacts with investigators and assures compliance with resolution agreements).
Continually identify and integrate best practices in Title IX training and investigations into the university knowledge base and practices.
Be available on call when needed for Title IX response.
Maintain an effective informative and uptodate website.
Equal opportunity duties:
Ensure compliance with federal state and local laws regulations and requirements regarding harassment discrimination and/or retaliation based upon protected classifications including Title VII and the Colorado AntiDiscrimination Act.
Oversee the complaint process to ensure prompt effective and compliant processes regarding complaint intake procedures review and implementation of supportive measures conducing the informal resolution process as appropriate and oversight of the formal resolution process including handling appeals.
Ensuring proper recording keeping of all actions taken during the complaint process.
Oversee the development and delivery of universitywide training for staff and faculty related to nondiscrimination antiharassment and other equal opportunity laws regulations and requirements.
Ensure timely completion of the annual Affirmative Action Program including collaboration with other departments on campus to obtain all necessary data.
Review and revise University policies and procedures as necessary to ensure compliance with applicable federal state and local laws and regulations related to equal opportunity matters including Title VII and the Colorado AntiDiscrimination Act.
Monitor number and outcomes of complaints to identify and address patterns and assess effectiveness of reporting and response efforts including opportunities for improvement.
Develop and distribute written materials and other informational pieces to broadly disseminate information regarding the Universitys policies relating to equal opportunity.
Collaborate with other University departments in relation to compliance with matters involving equal opportunity affirmative action nondiscrimination and antiharassment requirements.
ADA/504 Coordinator duties:
Act as primary 504/ADA compliance coordinator including advising and collaborating with appropriate individuals and departments to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements related to issues involving notices access to facilities/materials and requested accommodations applicable to individuals with disabilities.
Oversee the grievance/complaint process to ensure prompt effective and compliant processes regarding intake procedures review and implementation of accommodations
conducing inquiries or investigations into grievances/complaints regarding failures to accommodate and/or harassment/discrimination based upon a disability.
Ensuring proper recording keeping of all actions taken during the complaint process.
Review and revise the Universitys nondiscrimination policies statements access information and grievance procedures to ensure compliance with Section 504/ADA and other applicable disabilityrelated laws requirements and regulations.
Remain current on federal state and local laws and regulations as well as best practices of other colleges/universities concerning the rights of persons with disabilities and ways of providing reasonable accommodations to persons with disabilities while maintaining program performance standards.
Assess and ensure that services activities and facilities are accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities.
Monitor number and outcomes of complaints to identify and address patterns and assess effectiveness of reporting and response efforts including opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate with other University departments including Information Technology Facilities and Grounds Human Resources Student Life and the Access Center.
Review process for handling requests from visitors to campus with disabilityrelated accommodation needs to ensure compliance with 504/ADA.
Develop training for students and/or staff on disabilityrelated topics including accommodations grievances access and rights.
Develop and distribute written materials and other informational pieces to broadly disseminate information regarding the Universitys policies relating to persons with disabilities.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills:
Knowledge of higher education environment including ability to work collaboratively across many departments.
The ability to communicate effectively and to diagnose clarify and mediate conflict and differences of opinion.
Have demonstrated ability to respond quickly and appropriately to timesensitive emotional/stressful and complex matters.
Ability to manage multiple ongoing and complex caseload of complaints involving students and staff within prompt time frame.
Required Qualifications
Masters degree JD or other advanced degree related to the requirements of the position.
A minimum of five years of experience working in higher education administration with an indepth knowledge of Title VII and Title IX compliance.
A minimum of five years of experience handling the implementation administration and monitoring of an institution of higher educations (or similar entity) compliance with matters involving Title IX Title VII ADA/504 Affirmative Action Plans and other federal state or local civil rights laws.
Direct experience conducting and/or managing discrimination/harassment and Title IX investigations that comply with all legal and procedural requirements including drafting comprehensive investigation reports.
Direct experiencing implementing training programs related to applicable federal state and local laws and regulations related to Title VII and Title IX compliance (including 504/ADA).
Demonstrated ability to address complicated matters with tact discretion and professionalism.
Proven outstanding interpersonal oral and written communication skills.

Experience with ADA Coordinator responsibilities including knowledge of 504 requirements.

Salary for Announcement
Under Colorado law MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications analysis of internal equity and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The full salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $90600.00 $151300.00
This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
