Summary of Job Duties:

The School of Social Work in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a nontenure track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Social Work to start in August 2025. This is a standard ninemonth faculty appointment for oneyear appointment with the potential for annual reappointment. For the annual renewal candidates should provide at least one year of evaluations as instructor of record illustrating high quality teaching effectiveness.

This nontenure track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position entails constructing syllabi leading classroom instruction writing and administering exams mentoring and evaluating students creating interest and understanding among students serving on various faculty and studentoriented committees providing service on campus an in related professional organizations and participating in faculty governance in the department and on campus. Also includes engaging in creative and/or scholarly activities designing graduate and undergraduate courses developing and implementing new methods of teaching to reflect changes in the field providing curriculum material.

Regular reliable and nondisruptive attendance is an essential job duty as is the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

With submitted materials the candidate must demonstrate:

  • Terminal degree in Social Work (Master of Social Work MSW) from a Council on Social Work (CSWE) accredited institution of higher education conferred by the date of initial appointment

  • At least two years of practice experience postMaster of Social Work

  • At least two semesters of college level teaching experience with demonstrating high quality teaching effectiveness as instructor of record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Cooccurring Disorder (COD) treatment in practice and/or teaching

  • Demonstrated leadership and/or management experience particularly Program Director experience as evidenced in the CV and other required documents

  • Demonstrated commitment to creating classrooms and to excellence in teaching for all students as evidenced in teaching statement and other required documents

  • Demonstrated ability to provide service to the University and the profession as evidenced in the CV cover letter and other required documents

  • Demonstrated strong evidence of the ability to be an active involved and collegial member of a collaborative faculty team both on campus and in relevant national service organizations

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Current knowledge in the field of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Cooccurring Disorder (COD)

  • Competent in the use of technology specifically education platforms

The School of Social Work (SCSW) has one of the oldest undergraduate social work programs in the United States. We have offered undergraduate social work degrees since 1940 and we are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The School of Social Work at the University of Arkansas reflects the professions fundamental concerns in its educational goals and objectives.
