Community Engagement Volunteers Newmarket Bingo World
Location: Bingo World and Gaming Newmarket 1230 Kerrisdale Blvd Newmarket ON L3Y 8Z9
Time Commitment: 24 hours/month: Thursday 57pm or Fridays 810pm
Remuneration: $50 gift card per shift completed
Reports To: Director of Development
Position Summary:

The Womens Centre of York Region (WCYR) is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist at Bingo World and Gaming Newmarket
This vital role helps WCYR secure a share of charitable gaming proceeds that directly fund our free programs for women in need. Volunteers will be the face of WCYR providing exceptional customer service assisting players and sharing information about how the funds raised support the women in our community. We need 2 volunteers per month and to recognize your time and contribution each volunteer will receive a $50 honorarium per shift.
All volunteers complete an online training course and 1 shift with a trained volunteer to ensure you are comfortable in the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Circulate the gaming floor to welcome guests upon arrival and thank them for their participation when leaving.
- Provide customer service assistance including answering questions about games promotions and WCYRs programs.
- Assist players with basic technology for electronic gaming.
- Flag game winners for staff identification and help with the verification process.
- Maintain a tidy gaming environment by collecting used bingo products clearing empty cups/plates cleaning touch screens and sorting waste into the correct receptacles.
- Support promotional events by handing out ballots or other promotional materials.
- Respond to customer needs directly or by referring them to appropriate staff when necessary.
- Report any customer accessibility issues to the centre manager or Charity Coordinator for prompt action.
- Be knowledgeable about where the charitable funds are used within the community and share this information with customers if requested.
Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal skills; enjoy meeting new people and comfortable interacting with the public.
- Ability to represent WCYR professionally and answer basic questions about our organization and programs.
- Attention to detail and willingness to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
- Ability to commit to a 2hour shift once a month on a Thursday evening.
Time Commitment:
- 2 hours per shift once a month (Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm).
Honorarium:
- Volunteers will receive a $50 honorarium per shift to recognize their time and contribution.
