Job Description
The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP) processes over 400000 paraffinembedded blocks and 150000 slides per year. Specimens handled include surgical autopsy and research material. DLMP takes pride in contributing to the accurate diagnosis of the patient and the expansion of scientific knowledge through the services it offers both pathologists and research investigators.
The Histology Laboratory has an opening for an Assistant Supervisor. Your responsibilities in this dynamic lab will include:
- Assisting with the management and development of staff.
- Assisting with oversight of and accountability for quality and service regulatory compliance work unit safety strategic planning document management and developing and implementing new services.
- Working cooperatively with a wide variety of customers as well as internal and external resources.
- Collaborating on special projects as assigned by the laboratory consultant/director(s) administrator and/or operations manager(s) and DLMP supervisor.
- Actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds experiences and perspectives.
*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F1 STEM OPT extension program.
Qualifications
To be considered for the Assistant Supervisor role you must meet the minimum qualifications below:
- Bachelors degree preferably in CLS/MLS/MT management/business sciences or health related field AND
- Three years of clinical laboratory and/or management experience AND
- Histology Technician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
Additional Qualifications
- Must have demonstrated leadership communication (oral and written) and problemsolving ability.
- Must be highly organized efficient and able to work independently.
- Requires human relations skills to influence and motivate others.
