Duties And Responsibilities
The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the scope of work is similar related or a logical assignment to this classification. 1. Teach a variety of adaptive physical education courses 2. Assist in the development of curriculum and modes of instruction in adaptive physical education 3. Participate in the development and/or selection of course materials equipment and technology that will enhance offerings in the department 4. Assist with outreach to local hospitals and clinics 5. Maintain student records as required including but not limited to physician consent forms 6. Assist students in the admissions and enrollment process for each semester of participation 7. Solicit train and supervise student volunteers work study interns and volunteer aides to assist with classes and students 8. Engage in the Student Learning Outcomes SLO and assessment process as a means of establishing student need 9. Coordinate with the Disability Resource Center DRC as appropriate to document student need and eligibility 10. Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies 11. Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours 12. Perform other duties as required by contract collective bargaining agreement and general institutional needs 13. The college offers day evening and weekend classes and faculty may be required to teach during any of these
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a Masters or above in physical education exercise science education with an emphasis in physical education kinesiology physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters or above in any life science dance physiology health education recreation administration or physical therapy OR the equivalent AND completion of 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in adapted physical education Demonstrated cultural competence sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students faculty and staff Current CPR /First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain certification before assignment begins
