At Coherent Scotland we develop laser systems. Our systems are deployed in a wide variety of markets including renewable energy microelectronics fundamental research life sciences and medicine. We aim to make a positive impact on everybodys life by providing customers with lasers with superior reliability and performance.

We develop and manufacture many different lasers on site as well as manufacturing lasers developed in other Coherent divisions.
Coherent Scotland is based at the West of Scotland Science Park in Glasgow and is a subsidiary of Coherent Corp. a global leader in the manufacture of materials networking equipment and laser products.We are housed in a purposebuilt facility with research and development manufacturing and marketing all on one site.

About the role
As a Quality Engineer reporting to the Senior Quality Engineer you will become an integral part of the quality team. Working within the operations environment your role will involve management of daytoday issues as well as facilitating communication coordination and knowledge sharing of systemic issues with crossfunctional teams.
Your primary objective is to drive and maintain adherence to quality standards and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities will include:
- Management and daily disposition of quarantined materials.
- Performing transactions to maintain system accuracy.
- Analysis of failure data and maintenance of material records.
- Producing management reports and performance metrics.
- Driving issues to root cause(s) corrective action and monitor for effectiveness.
- Supporting diagnosis and repair of complex electro/mechanical equipment.
- Coworking with the Purchasing team to develop local suppliers.
- Supporting and assisting with internal and supplier audits.
- Design and review of Quality Assurance related documentation.
- Interpretation of safety quality and regulatory standards.
- Identifying trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Collation and analysis of field failure data.
- Interfacing with Research Design and & Development teams for product improvement.
Education and Experience:
Essential Skills
- Previous experience in a Quality environment.
- Technical/Advanced Degree level of education or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience in providing manufacturing support ideally in photonics industry.
- Demonstrable knowledge of modern quality and manufacturing systems.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing 6 Sigma and the Quality Tools.
- Familiarity with Oracle or similar ERP systems.
- Computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- Strong attention to detail accuracy and strong analytical ability.
- A can do proactive attitude and a creative and innovative approach in problem solving.
- Proven ability to follow procedures and complete assigned tasks to deadline.
- Strong time management skills and proven ability to complete work to schedule.
- Initiative to recognize and manage occasional deviations from accepted practice.
- Able to work as a part of team but also a selfstarter with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to change.
- Handson practical approach where necessary.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Knowledge of ISO9001 ISO13485.
- Effective writing and presentation skills.
