Duties And Responsibilities
The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the scope of work is similar related or a logical assignment to this classification. 1. Teach classes as assigned from the current curriculum 2. Establish relationships with community including students faculty administration staff San Mateo County and contiguous high school coaches media and businesses 3. Participate in the development and/ or selection of course materials equipment and technology that will enhance offerings in the department 4. Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies 5. Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours 6. Serve as a member of division and college committees 7. Perform other duties as required by contract collective bargaining agreement and general institutional needs 8. Develop curriculum and modes of instruction in Kinesiology and assist in curriculum revisions and new course development i. The college offers day evening and weekend classes and faculty may be required to teach during any of these.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of any Bachelors degree AND two years of professional experience OR an Associate degree AND six years of professional experience OR the equivalent (see below) Current CPR /First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain certification before assignment begins Possession of a valid California Drivers License (or the ability to obtain one) Demonstrated cultural competence sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students faculty and staff
Preferred Qualifications
i. The ability to teach courses in the Kinesiology curriculum is preferred. The education requirement to teach these courses is listed below: Masters or above in physical education exercise science education with an emphasis in physical education kinesiology physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education OR Bachelors degree in any of the above AND Masters or above in any life science dance physiology health education recreation administration or physical therapy OR the equivalent (see below)
