B.E / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Production Engineering / Electronics Engineering / Electrical Engineering.
Or
B. Des. in Industrial Design / Product Design / Graphic Design.
Or
Any other equivalent Professional Degree in Design Engineering or Technology.
The candidate must possess a sound knowledge in the following core areas:
Product Design:
Indepth understanding of the design process (Design Cycle/Design Thinking) including research ideation prototyping evaluation and iterative improvement and capacity to deliver and implement the design concepts in the teaching and learning process.
Expertise in critical thinking creative thinking problem solving skills and innovation specific to product design & development.
Graphic Products:
Proficiency in visual communication techniques Sketching Creative and Technical drawing (Engineering Graphics).
Digital design software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator Photoshop etc).
Proficiency in CAD Modelling 2D & 3D e.g. SketchUp Fusion 360 Blender) and branding principles.
Resistant Materials:
Knowledge of various materials (wood metal plastics composites) their properties and applications in design and manufacturing.
Proficiency in creative modelling with different media (Paper Card Cardboard Styrofoam natural & artificial wood metals plastics etc..
Systems and Controls:
Understanding of mechanical systems electronics automation and control mechanisms used in product design.
Manufacturing Processes:
Competency in Prototyping Techniques and expertise in handling the associated machinery 3D Printing Vacuum Forming LASER Cutting & Engraving).
Familiarity with industrial and workshop manufacturing methods including CNC machining 3D printing laser cutting and traditional craftsmanship.
Expertise in Woodworking (handling Lathe Planer and other associated cutting & shaping tools) Metalworking (Lathe Welding Soldering Sheet Metalworking and other associated cutting & shaping tools) and Plastic fabrication techniques.
Mastery in planning implementing and effective quality management in product design & development.
Sustainability and Innovation:
Awareness of sustainable design practices environmental impact of materials and emerging trends in design technology.
Interdisciplinary Connections:
Ability to integrate concepts from science engineering and technology into the design process for problemsolving and innovation.
The candidate must have the following skills in addition to basic teaching skills:
Instructional Strategies:
Expertise in active learning strategies such as design thinking projectbased learning handson prototyping and collaborative learning.
Assessment Practices:
Understanding of formative and summative assessment techniques including portfolio assessment and performancebased evaluations.
Differentiation:
Ability to tailor instruction to students varying skill levels interests and abilities ensuring inclusive learning experiences.
Classroom Management:
Skills in fostering a safe engaging and creative studio/workshop environment while managing tools equipment and student interactions effectively.
Curriculum Development:
Experience in designing curriculum lesson plans and project briefs aligned with IGCSE and IB MYP frameworks.
Technology Integration:
Proficiency in using digital fabrication tools CAD software coding platforms and interactive teaching technologies.
Professional Development:
Commitment to continuous learning staying updated with advancements in design technology pedagogy and emerging industry trends.
Experience:
Minimum 2 3 years of experience in teaching and integrating Design Technology for the following curricula:
IGCSE Product Design Graphic Products Resistant Materials Systems and Controls.
IB MYP Product Design Digital Design STEM.
