The Nurse Technician provides direct care to patients by performing activities of daily living and limited technical skills based on current education level. This position provides compassionate and competent nursing care so that we have the opportunity to feel the joy of impacting the lives of our patients their families and our coworkers.
Job Duties
Provide patient care under the direction of nursing staff being certain to only perform tasks in which training and or competency has been validated. Activities of daily living may include as needed: nutrition bathing & general hygiene patient transfers & positioning obtain vital signs bed linen & clothing changes and donning/doffing splints/orthotic devices. May perform technical skills which have been learned in a nursing education program & competency has been demonstrated by a faculty member & Bethany Childrens Health Center employee. Exceptions include but not limited to: administration medication or blood products perform assessments receive verbal orders and develop the plan of care. A Registered Nurse is directly responsible at all times for the Nurse Technician.
Communicates effectively with coworkers: provides clear comprehensive report to assigned nurse and oncoming shift.
Charting patient care in Electronic Health Record as indicated: patients input and output vital signs patient condition and patient weight.
Contributes to a maintaining a tidy work environment: cleans patient area & work space restocks patients closet removes trash & clutter from environment.
Qualifications
Education:
1. Current enrollment in a program of practical nursing/registered nursing and has completed the first semester of nursing program; or
2. Has completed a program of practical nursing/registered nursing and has applied for examination. The graduate may continue to be employed in a Nurse Technician role until licensed in any state territory or country provided that the first licensure examination is taken within 90 days after graduation and the examination is passed within 6 months of graduation on either the first or the second attempt.
Experience:
Successful completion of the first semester of nursing clinicals
License/Certification/Credential:
Copy of current Skills Checklist from school. Written recommendation or reference check from a current faculty member. Transcript up to current semester to verify enrollment. CPR Certification.
Shift Differentials
Nurse Technician / Practical Nurse Technician(NT/PNT)
Bethany Childrens Health Centeralso offers shift differentials for working evening nights or weekend hours. If you were to work those time frames that amount would be added to your hourly base rate each hour. Approved rates are as follows:
Weekdays 3:00 p.m. 11:00 p.m: $1.25/hour
Weekdays 11:00 p.m. 7:00 a.m: $3.00/hour
Weekends 7:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m: $1.50/hour
Weekends 3:00 p.m. 11:00 p.m: $2.75/hour
Weekends 11:00 p.m. 7:00 a.m: $6.00/hour

Training requirements for dayshift:

Training Requirements for Week 1:
This involves a variety of trainings. On Monday you will onboard and learn about hospital requirements and culture with Jaycee from HR. Tuesday you will complete RT training. Wednesday is Nursing Orientation. Thursday is New Employee Orientation for all BCHC new hires. Friday is a trauma informed care class called Mandt that we require of all employees.
Training Requirements for Week 2:
This week will include a thorough rehabilitation training day our Meditech EMR system training and other required courses related to your position (ie. HealthStream Lippincott BLS course PALS course etc.
Training Requirements for Week 3:
Packet training week includes all nursing specific trainings. During this week you will complete mandatory online classrooms specific for your job title and complete handson skills at the bedside and with our nurse educators.
Please keep in mind that all full time part time and occasional employees are required to attend these trainings and orientations.
