The engineering coop/intern student will work alongside and in support of R&D hardware systems engineering and operations engineering teams. The engineering teams are a diverse collaborative group working on the support and development of medical devices; the devices are used to automate in vitro diagnostics.
Theengineering coop studentwill be supervised and mentored by the Director Managers and Sr. Engineers in the assigned engineering team. Interaction with Project Leaders and other engineers will occur on a daily basis as needed during thecoop/internship period.
Basic Knowledge: The coop/intern will obtain basic knowledge related to medical instrumentation research development design and testing. Candidates will be expected to have general engineering knowledge including the use of standard engineering tools and laboratory test equipment understanding of general laboratory practices general computer applications competencies (word processing spreadsheet internet data search software programming etc. and strong oral and written communication skills.
Project Activities: This position will include creation and of verification tests troubleshooting and evaluating instrument and system issues and supporting engineering evaluations and feasibility efforts.
Design and Development Process: Thecoop/intern will be given the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of the bioMerieux Design Control Process that addresses US and international regulatory requirements as well as internal Quality Assurance.
ElectricalMechanical Computer Systems and Biomedical Engineering undergraduate students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher will be considered. Completion of at least sophomore year of undergraduate studies is preferred but not required.
