Job Description

The School of International Letters and Cultures (SILC) at ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY seeks applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in the area of Spanish Bilingualism. We seek a dynamic expert in Spanish Linguistics with specific expertise in bilingualism and contact linguistics Critical Language Awareness and/or language ideologies/attitudes. SILCs undergraduate and graduate programs are increasing in size at a robust rate and we seek a candidate who excels in teaching undergraduate and graduate students. Furthermore the successful candidate will contribute to the development and teaching of a newly established Masters in Spanish to help advance the Schools programs to national prominence. The Assistant Teaching Professor will also contribute to our burgeoning PhD in Spanish linguistics and improve the use of digital technologies in inperson and online programs. They will be expected to teach lower upperdivision and graduate courses in the Spanish curriculum online inperson and/or hybrid and hold office hours. Candidates with experience in course design and curriculum building are welcome. This is a fulltime benefitseligible nontenure eligible appointment made on an academic year basis (Aug.16May 15. Subsequent annual renewal is possible contingent upon satisfactory performance availability of resources the needs of the university and sufficient enrollment in assigned courses. Anticipated start date is August 2025.
