About Us:

Founded in 1968 to meet the postsecondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The Colleges fifth president Dr. Mary Way Bolt reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

Cecil College is centrally located in Marylands most northeastern county just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore as well as from Wilmington Delaware.

With a diverse student population Cecil College enrolls approximately 2500 credit students and 3400 noncredit students. Cecil offers associate degrees certificate programs and noncredit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

Through its open admissions policy Cecil College provides learning opportunities for all who have the desire and ability to benefit from its courses and programs regardless of age gender ethnic origin sexual orientation disability or socioeconomic status.

Employees of Cecil College including instructors for online and virtual courses must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware Pennsylvania Virginia West Virginia or the District of Columbia.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US as the College does not offer Visa sponsorships.

General Description:

Cecil College has 10 month and 12month faculty positions open.

Responsible for teaching in the associate degree in nursing program. The faculty members responsibilities include planning organizing teaching and providing feedback to promote and direct student learning in accordance with Cecil Colleges department of nursing learningcentered values that meet the essential competencies.

These are in person teaching positions located at North East MD.

Specific duties generally include but are not limited to:

Faculty members shall:

  • Conduct assigned classes in accordance with the approved master course syllabus and stipulations of the department. Teach a fulltime load of 30credit hours per academic year for 10 month; 12 month teach 36 credit hours per fiscal year.
  • Meet every scheduled class including the final examination for the full scheduled number of minutes. Any changes in meeting place or time should be reported to the Administrative Assistants of Academic Programs and the Department Chair prior to the class meeting.
  • Follow the requirements in the Master Syllabi and Course Syllabi Policy and Procedures. On the first day of class provide each student with the Course Syllabus. Course Syllabi must be posted to Canvas prior to or on the day of the firstclass meeting.
  • Utilize the current College course management system.
  • Ensure all course information is available to students no later than the start of the first class session via the Colleges LMS.
  • Maintain attendance records including the last day each student attended class.
  • Establish post and maintain at least six 6 reasonably distributed office hours per week in a minimum of onehalf 1/2 hour increments each Fall and Spring semester.
  • Assist students through informal academic advising appropriate to the department or division.
  • Adhere to copyright laws provided on the Library site for the college web portal.
  • Regularly and routinely check Cecil College email accounts and respond in a timely manner to emails including those from the department chair administrative staff and students.
  • Participate in the first and second Academic Monitoring.
  • Administer a final examination or culminating activity during the regularly scheduled final exam period.
  • Submit any Incomplete Grade Contracts to the Administrative Assistants in Academic Programs.
  • Adhere to End of Semester Checklist.
  • Submit materials for faculty performance evaluation on time to the appropriate CAO or designee.
  • Participate with the Faculty Members department chair in conducting and completing adjunct evaluations and the annual department report.
  • Submit other materials and forms necessary for the Colleges purpose or for the Colleges compliance with outside regulations and/or regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare and revise necessary master course syllabi utilizing appropriate textbooks or additional course materials.
  • Prepare new master course syllabi and new programs as necessary.
  • Attend all scheduled and special faculty meetings and meetings of other groups to which assigned (e.g. division committees affinity groups etc..
  • Support Collegewide testing and actively encourage students to participate.
  • Participate in Commencements other official College ceremonies and meetings called by the Department Chair Dean Vice President for Academic Programs or the President.
  • Serve on faculty and other College committees.
  • Participate in course assessment and program reports as needed.
  • Complete required professional development including Safe Colleges.
  • Support the mission vision and values of the College and the policies of the Board of Trustees.
  • Act in accordance with the letter and spirit of applicable laws College policies rules and expectations and the terms of the contract for the current academic year.
  • Adhere to additional duties as set forth in a faculty members contract and/or required by virtue of the faculty members position at the College.
  • Conduct College classes at Cecil County Public Schools High Schools when necessary
  • Conduct classes in various modalities such as online inperson (on campus and offsite) and hybrid as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
  • Education Masters degree in related discipline; Minimum of Masters Degree in Nursing
  • Licensure Current unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or Multistate
  • Prior teaching experience in a college/university setting preferred
  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology
  • Able to work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Successful collegelevel teaching experience in the related field preferred. Only completed applications (resume letter of application and unofficial transcripts) will receive consideration. Physical Demands:

  • Lift 50 pounds (pick up a child transfer a patient etc. as required for patient care
  • Carry patient care equipment/supplies.
  • Use upper body strength (CPR physically restrain patient etc.
  • Squeeze with hands (operate fire extinguisher)

10 month faculty salary is dependent on placement according to the Fulltime Faculty Rank and Promotion policy. The starting salary for each level is: Assistant Professor I $53789.10; Assistant Professor II $56478.50; Associate Professor I $59360; Associate Professor II $64756.4; Professor I $66604; Professor II $71727.


12 month faculty salary is dependent on placement according to the Fulltime Faculty Rank and Promotion policy. The starting salary for each level is: Assistant Professor I $64546.92; Assistant Professor II $67774.20 Associate Professor I $71232.2 Associate Professor II $77707.68; Professor I $79925.16; Professor II $86073.36
