Job Description

Position Summary:Do you feel passionate about working with studentathletes Does the prospect of using your clinical skills to assist college students mental health inspire you Come and join a dedicated and supportive team at the University of Dayton Counseling Center as an Athletics Parttime Therapist!
The University of Dayton is seeking a dedicated and community centered Staff Therapist to serve in the Counseling Center on a parttime basis. The therapist is responsible for providing individual and group therapy to studentathletes at the University and outreach. Through an approach of prevention education treatment and care the Counseling Center team is missioned to provide a positive impact on the mental health and wellbeing of all students through services that promote resiliency capacity building and facilitate optimal student development and growth. The Counseling Center actively contributes to the universitys holistic approach to mental health and suicide prevention through integration of the UD Step Care Model and the Division of Health and Wellbeing. This position serves as a clinical link from the Counseling Center to Athletics and will focus solely on studentathlete mental health while serving as an integral part of the Counseling Center team. The ideal candidate for this position will hold strong ethics regarding client confidentiality possess knowledge and experience regarding University level studentathletes and serve as a generalist to help studentathletes who present with a wide range of clinical presentations. To achieve success the candidate must be dedicated to reducing barriers to care that exist for communities of color the LGBTQ community and other marginalized groups. Further a commitment to understand and support the University of Daytons distinctive Marianist tradition and educational vision as well as a willingness to model institutional values of service to others community and diversity are imperative.Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate degree (Ph.D. Psy.D. Ed.D. MSW MSSW MA or M.Ed) in counseling psychology or social work from an accredited program
Must currently hold or obtain independent licensure in Ohio. If coming from out of state must be eligible to transfer license to Ohio within six months. Must maintain licensure throughout duration of employment in good standing.
Knowledge of the mental health needs and concerns of a university studentathlete population
Experience in crisis intervention and emergency response within a clinical setting
Experience and commitment to facilitating groups including process psychoeducation and support groups
Experience working collaboratively with various stakeholders
One or more years working in a clinical setting with a young adult population
Excellent written communication skills ability to write concise clear and logical clinical documentation
Capacity to independently manage a variety of tasks with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
Experience documenting work an Electronic Medical Records system
Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Ability to promote holistic wellbeing and enhance student learning
A history of success in engaging underrepresented communities programming and treatment.

Demonstrated integrity dependability sound judgment and resourcefulness to establish and maintain collaborative positive and effective working relationships with multiple constituency groups
History of working with a range of culturally and ethnically diverse populations and evidence of commitment to fostering equity inclusion and a collaborative multicultural environment
Two to three years of clinical experience working with collegiate studentathletes across a range of sports.
Former studentathlete
Experience and commitment to facilitating groups including process psychoeducation and support groups
