ROLE: Deputy Technical Supervisor (Laboratory) COMPENSATION: $55000 $60000 annually
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE - Bachelors degree in microbiology biology chemistry environmental sciences physical sciences or engineering
- Completion of 16 college semester credit hours in general microbiology and biology within sixty 60 days of hire.
- Completion of twentyfour 24 college semester credit hours in general chemistry within 60 days of hire
- Two 2 years of experience in the environmental analysis of Legionella.
- A masters or doctoral degree in one of the above disciplines may be substituted for one 1 year of experience.
- ACADEMIC LABORATORY EXPERIENCE EXPECTED; COMMERCIAL LABORATORY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

DESCRIPTION: As the Deputy Technical Supervisor your tasks will include: - developing familiarity with the laboratorys quality management system and completing all trainings required by that system (e.g. data integrity training);
- assisting with laboratory oversight and conducting laboratory tests and other processes in accordance with prescribed standard operating procedures (after completing requisite demonstrations of capability);
- serving as the acting technical supervisor in the event of his or her absence;
- supervising evaluating and when necessary correcting the work of laboratory technical staff;
- monitoring performance data and the validity of the analyses for the laboratory;
- working with other members of laboratory management to ensure compliance with relevant standards;
- serving as a subject matter expert for all current laboratory analytes as well as the laboratorys quality management system including the Quality Assurance Manual standard operating procedures record keeping practices relevant standards and other associated forms and documents;
- participating in annual audits of laboratory processes to ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements;
- implementing corrective actions designed by the Quality Manager for any identified nonconformances and/or deficiencies in laboratory processes and/or results
- assisting the lab staff in processing incoming samples (as needed);
- mobilizing to collect water samples on an emergency basis from various facilities by following written protocols (in accordance with contract specifications);
- reviewing all lab reports for data quality and accuracy;
- performing other related duties as assigned.
