About the Role

We are seeking passionate people with experience providing psychosocial support to people living with mental health challenges. As a Support Worker you will work in a trauma informed way to liaise with Support Coordinators and provide capacity building support as determined by the clients recovery goals. The focus of work is to support clients to reconnect with community and improve their mental health and wellbeing and overall quality of life. The successful applicants will have experience in working with clients in a family inclusive way working in a team environment and liaising with mental health professionals housing providers and other appropriate services to support the clients recovery journey.

This is a permanent full time position. The successful candidate will be working week days between Monday and Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm.

What were looking for

As well as the above experience we will be looking for:

  • Completion of or progress towards a relevant qualification in Mental Health (Certificate II/III) and/or relevant work experience.
  • Ability to engage with individuals within different levels of needs and build and maintain a professional relationship.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to the functioning of the team.
  • Ability to model positive behaviours emotional maturity coping skills and resilience.
  • Good interpersonal and effective communication skills.
  • Understanding of basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and client reporting system.
  • Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to the vision mission core values and the guiding principles of the organisation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity gender and social inclusion particularly Aboriginal culture.
