Hourly Rate:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Recreation Aide reports to the Recreation Fitness and Health Supervisor and is an hourly nonexempt position.
- The Recreation Aide organizes and directs trainees in leisure time recreation/nonvocational activities and leadership programs.
- Assists in centersponsored trips and events including escorting and chaperoning. At times may drive the students on trips/events.
- The Recreation Aide assists with Water Safety programming (videos swimming certification and swim lessons and CIS documentation if applicable.
- May provide instructions to trainees in various recreational clubs such as sports poetry drama talent shows etc. and other creative activities such as arts and crafts.
- Mentor studentsinRecreationAideProgram to help establish life skills.
- Ensures that all programs comply with DOL requirements.
Qualifications:
- Associates of Arts degree or one 1 year of related experience working with youth.
- Preferexperienceinarecreation/nonvocationalprogram.
- Must be flexible with work schedule to include weekends holidays and/or nights.
- Validdriverslicenseinthestateofemploymentwithanacceptabledrivingrecord.
- Prefer a CDL with passenger transport endorsement.
- Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and DrugFree Workplace policy.
Additional Requirements:Knowledge of a variety of recreation/nonvocational activities. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certification. Ability to communicate effectively and relate to the trainee population. Ability to inspire and motivate trainees. Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Position requires an ability to operate office equipment. In addition an individual must be able to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments.
