Job Description
The successful candidate will teach a variety of core courses within the Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering programs. Additional expectations include academic advising assisting the department with program assessment administrative work serving on college and universitywide committees. Faculty are required to continue professional development in accordance with university expectations. Faculty appointments are for a ninemonth contract period with a normal teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. or doctorate in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or a closely related field. While all areas of specialty within these fields are desirable of particular interest is an ability to teach a range of mechanical and mechatronic engineering topics.
Knowledge Skills Ability:
The successful candidate should have demonstrated promise of excellence in teaching a record of scholarly achievement an entrepreneurial spirit and an interest in working with highly motivated undergraduate students. While it is anticipated that this position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level highly qualified applicants will be considered for higher ranks. The success of our undergraduate students is our primary focus.
Responsibilities:
- Teach 24 contact hours (typically 5 6 classes per year
- Advise students
- Assess assist and guide adjunct faculty under the direction of the department chair
- Assist with curriculum development
- Assist with academic program reviews
- Assist with university recruiting efforts
- Undertake professional development and produce scholarly research
- Teach undergraduate courses as assigned
- Participate in department college and university meetings and committees
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chairperson and/or Dean
