PartTime Custodian
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Legacy Charter School is a highperforming public charter school holistically educating 500 scholars in prek through 8th grade in Chicagos North Lawndale neighborhood. Our mission is to create an outstanding center for teaching and learning for children and their families that will recognize and nurture the full potential of every child provide a foundation for a college education and educate our scholars to be creative and critical thinkers and responsible citizens in school at home and in the broader community.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a responsible parttime custodian to maintain and protect our facilities. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. The custodian should be a hard worker careful and thorough in working and cleaning the premises. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep. They will have great physical endurance to cover a large space. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in custodial maintenance jobs.
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
Parttime custodian hours:
MondayThursday: 2:00 PM 7:30 PM
Friday: 1:00 PM 5:30 PM
Pay range: $18.00 $20.00 per hour based on experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
Wash and sanitize toilets sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap)
Wipe mirrors and windows
Maintain outer premises by cleaning entrances trash pickup etc.
Report damages to the engineer and assist where needed
Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors closing windows and setting up the alarm
Undertake other occasional custodial and janitorial tasks (shoveling snow from the sidewalk lifting heavy items moving chairs etc.
REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience as a custodian janitor or in a similar role
Knowledge of the use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
Attention to detail and conscientiousness
Very good physical condition and strength
High school diploma is preferred but not required
