Gundersen Health System Ambulance (GHSA) is seeking a casual oncall Critical Care Paramedic to join our highly committed and driven Prairie du Chien ambulance team as we provide the most advanced prehospital patient care available to an area of nearly 1000 square miles covering parts of both Iowa and Wisconsin. With a dedicated staff of highly skilled Paramedics and experienced EMTs we are able to provide emergency response and interfacility medical services 24 hours a day.

What Youll Do:

As a Critical Care Paramedic you will respond treat and transport patients in emergency and nonemergency settings. You will function as a crew member of an ambulance in both Rural 911 and interfacility transfer environments providing transfer services for Gundersen Critical Access hospitals and nonaffiliated hospitals throughout the region. You will perform Paramediclevel clinical care to patients of all ages in accordance with established policies protocols and standards under the guidelines of Gundersen Health System medical direction.

Whats Available:

  • Casual/OnCall (nonbenefit eligible position)

  • 12 & 24 hour shifts must work a minimum of 24 hours of open shifts per month

  • Will be located at the ambulance station during your scheduled shift(s)

  • After New Employee Orientation will orientate to the bay and rigs at site specific location and will be scheduled 10x12hr ride along shifts with a Field Training Officer

  • Will provide internal training for Incident Command System & Certified Emergency Vehicle Operation (CEVO)

  • Starting pay of $24.94/hr and up based on your years of experience

What Youll Need:

  • High school or equivalency Approved Critical Care Paramedic Program

  • ICS 100 200 and 700 certificates required within 60 days of hire

  • Certified Emergency Vehicle Operation (CEVO) or equivalent required within 60 days of hire date

  • Must have a critical care endorsement paramedic license in either Iowa or Wisconsin to begin employment with critical care endorsement paramedic licenses in Iowa and Wisconsin required within 60 days of the hire date

  • Minnesota Paramedic License required within 60 days of hire

  • National Registry of EMTS as a National Paramedic (NRP)

  • Valid Wisconsin Minnesota or Iowa drivers license

  • Current InfantAdult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) (BLS)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

  • Demonstrate the skills and knowledge of a Critical Care Paramedic per the standards set forth by the United States Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety and Administration the Wisconsin Department of Health Services the Iowa Bureau of Emergency and Trauma Services the Minnesota Emergency Medical Service Regulatory Board the National Registry of EMTs and the EMS Medical Director

  • Demonstrate the ability to independently initiate and maintain medical procedures medications and evaluations beyond the scope of the paramedic while functioning as the sole practitioner in the ambulance setting. Must be able to operate and troubleshoot a ventilator patient sedation noninvasive position pressure ventilation chest tube monitoring and monitoring of central lines. Possesses knowledge of medications outside of the paramedic scope and multiple medicated infusions

  • Prior work experience in an emergency or prehospital setting is strongly preferred
