Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Specialty Track Director Rank and Track Depending on Qualifications The Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Specialty Track Director provides leadership for faculty students and staff in the adult/gerontology acute care nurse practitioner specialty track of the Doctorate of Nursing Practice program. The Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Specialty Track Director also provides input for teaching assignments and oversight for teaching methods and strategies student clinical placement and curriculum development and evaluation. Additionally the Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Specialty Track Director ensures that specialty track activities are consistent with the vision mission values and strategic goals of the College of Nursing. Principal Functions and Responsibilities : a) Provide leadership in the development planning implementation and evaluation of curriculum and coursework for the adult/gerontology acute care nurse practitioner specialty track in collaboration with faculty and various community partners. b) Coordinate the admission process in accordance with University and College policies and guidelines. c) Facilitate student applications for scholarships and funding opportunities. d) Assume shared responsibility for adult/gerontology acute care nurse practitioner student progression and advising programs of study student and faculty orientation course evaluation annual program evaluation graduation activities and other accountabilities as assigned. e) Work collaboratively with the Academic Program Manager for the DNP Programs to support student recruitment and retention. f) Collaborate with University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics and other community agencies to strengthen the adult/gerontology acute care nurse practitioner specialty track. g) Maintain regular communication with the Assistant Dean of the Master of Science and Doctorate of Nursing Practice Programs Executive Director for Nurse Practitioner Education and the Associate Dean of Academic Programs. h) Promote a welcoming equitable and inclusive environment within the College of Nursing. i) Partner with the Associate Dean for Equity Diversity and Inclusion to provide vision plans and leadership for and implementation of programs and services to increase the recruitment and graduation of students from underrepresented groups and to improve the quality of their education experience. j) Work collaboratively with the Assistant Dean of the Master of Science and Doctorate of Nursing Practice Programs and Executive Director for Nurse Practitioner Education to maintain accreditation status and ensure integration of national standards of practice in the program. k) Facilitate the resolution of issues and concerns in the planning implementation and evaluation of the adult/gerontology acute care nurse practitioner specialty track in the doctorate of nursing practice program. Criteria/Experience and Qualifications : a) Graduate of an accredited College or School of Nursing and either hold a current Utah APRN License or be qualified to attain a Utah APRN License. b) Hold national certification as an adult/gerontology acute care nurse practitioner. c) Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing or a related field or Doctor of Nursing Practice DNP degree is required. d) Eligible for appointment as a CareerLine or TenureLine Assistant Professor or higher rank. e) Strong and contemporary working knowledge of nursing profession nursing education higher education and health care delivery. f) Demonstrated leadership and participation in accreditation curriculum development and evaluation academic advisement and admissions processes. g) Demonstrated leadership and ability to work collaboratively and productively with individuals and interdisciplinary groups. h) Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a collegial and respectful work and educational environment. i) Exemplary record of scholarly achievement commensurate with rank and attuned to matters of equity and inclusion. Appointment: This position includes 20 administrative effort with the remaining FTE allocated toward teaching research or scholarship service and/or clinical practice. This is a 12month appointment for three consecutive years with annual review and the option for reappointment. Responsible to: The Associate Dean for Academic Programs Assistant Dean of the Master of Science and Doctorate of Nursing Practice Programs and Executive Director for Nurse Practitioner Education. Review & Evaluation: With input from doctorate of nursing practice program specialty track directors faculty and other assistant and associate deans the Associate Dean for Academic Programs Assistant Dean of the Master of Science and Doctorate of Nursing Practice Programs and Executive Director for Nurse Practitioner Education will formally review the Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Specialty Track Director every three years.
