    QUALIFICATIONS
    1. Current Speech Language Pathologist license issued by the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS)
    2. Current Standard SpeechLanguage Pathologist Certificate PreK12 Professional NonTeaching issued by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE)
    3. At least two 2 years of experience preferred
    4. Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
    5. Ability to obtain National Provider Identifier (NPI) Number and AHCCCS ID in order to participate in the Medicaid School Based Claiming Program
    6. Knowledge skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies

    1. Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills
    2. Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
    3. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
    4. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
    5. Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and problemsolving skills to address challenges related to special education services.
    6. Utilize with fidelity the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
    7. Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position is held in the highest of confidentiality.
    8. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws district procedures and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures.
    9. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff students parents and community members.
    10. Empathy patience and a genuine passion for working with students with disabilities.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Provide appropriate therapy to eligible students consult with teachers and other staff members serve as a resource to faculty and participate in Child Study Team.
    2. Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and language development.
    3. Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and hearing disabled students.
    4. Assist and guide teachers in observing describing and referring suspected speech and language impairments.
    5. Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech voice and language impairments.
    6. Provide screening to identify speech disabled children in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
    7. Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.
    8. Provide appropriate individualized and group programs of therapy to meet individual students needs and ameliorate existing speech or language disabilities.
    9. Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions from the students daily activities.
    10. Provide inservice education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech improvement.
    11. Provide information support and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
    12. Keep thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school provided speech services.
    13. Attend child study meetings providing appropriate input on the special needs of students.
    14. Conduct annual IEP conferences and other IEP related meetings as needed develop appropriate IEP goals and objectives in consultation with parents and other professionals.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to reach with hands and arms sit stand walk stoop and bend as necessary. The employee maylift carry push pull or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 10 pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. The employee will read correspondence and computer screens and use the telephone.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    Indoor school building and office environment. This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have substantial contact with parents students staff and the public.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
    The Speech Language Pathologist reports to the Director of Exceptional Student Services. The Speech Language Pathologist will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
