Alberta Health Services in partnership with the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry Department of Medicine Division of Neurology invites applications for a feeforservice Autonomic Neurologist to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital. Located in Edmonton Alberta Canada the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the worlds top 50 medical schools and as one of Canadas premier healtheducation institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38000 students with more than 15000 faculty and staff.
The Division of Neurology Department of Medicine University of Alberta is an internationally recognized team of academic and clinical neurologists with areas of excellence that include Neuromuscular Disorders Stroke Movement Disorders Epilepsy Cognitive Disorders Clinical Neurophysiology (EMG and EEG) MS and Neurogenetics. The Division includes 32 full time Neurologists based at the University of Alberta Hospital and 30 community Neurologists based at the Royal Alexandra and Grey Nuns Hospitals Edmonton Zone. The Division of Neurology members are appointed faculty to the University of Alberta with close ties to the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute at the University.
The successful candidate will be a Neurologist and have completed a fellowship in neuromuscular diseases. The successful candidate must be able to conduct electromyography and nerve conduction studies and participate in an multidisciplinary model of care. And must have superior expert knowledge in disorders of the autonomic system.
The successful candidate must be able to provide call duties as required by UAH and fulfilling the Medical Staff Bylaws of AHS. The successful candidate must have superior clinical skills in terms of shared decisionmaking and motivational interviewing. The successful candidate must engage mental health supports as appropriate for patients from the autonomic lab.
