- Completion of grade 12 including courses in business with an emphasis on human resources or completion of a relevant Human Resources certificate program from an accredited business school or college
- Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in recruitment/staffing human resources or a related field preferably in a highvolume environment
Assets:
- Experience working at an election or the public sector
- Experience using a candidate management system/applicant tracking systems such as ELMS or Taleo RMS
- Experience working with legislation such as bylaws FOIP the Local Authorities Election Act or the Municipal Government Act
Skills required for success:
- Experience organizing and overseeing a large number of staff including recruitment selection hiring onboarding scheduling (work shifts) and training of employees
- Knowledge of best practices in recruitment and selection as well as employment law fundamentals
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work and communicate respectfully and inclusively with a wide range of diverse people. Comfortable communicating in person on the phone via email and video calls
- Demonstrated issues management and conflict resolution skills. Ability to have difficult conversations with others in a respectful manner
- Experience with public speaking and training facilitation in a virtual environment using Google Meet or other training platforms
- Ability to handle high volumes of work short timelines and changing priorities efficiently (strong time management skills)
- Experience using Google Workspace (Calendar Docs Sheets Mail Chat Meet etc).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information

The Edmonton Election is a largescale complex highly legislated civic project that is held every four years featuring tight timelines and a broad range of stakeholders. It is a project that requires agility precision and dedication offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a process that enables Edmontonians to vote for Mayor Council and Edmonton Public or Edmonton Catholic school board trustees.
As an Election Specialist Recruitment you will be instrumental in the recruitment training and management of up to 500 election workers for your assigned wards. Reporting to the Talent Acquisition Consultant you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the recruitment process from application screening and candidate assessment to onboarding and record maintenance. You will also serve as a primary point of contact for election workers and the public providing information and support while upholding the integrity of the electoral process. What will you do
- Manage the full recruitment cycle for a high volume of election worker applications including reviewing and assessing applications verifying previous experience conducting prescreening calls hiring workers and preparing offer letters
- Schedule training and election shifts according to their availability
- Serve as the main point of contact for election workers providing ongoing support addressing inquiries maintaining uptodate contact information and managing assignments & reassignments as needed
- Process election worker timesheets manage payroll inquiries and ensure compliance with payroll procedures
- Support postelection activities such as data compilation analysis preparing postelection summaries and submitting formal recommendation reports
- Assume the role of Deputy Returning Officer as set out in the Local Authorities Election Act which may include supervising a satellite ward office on Election Day and ensuring appropriate deployment of standby workers to each voting station within the ward
- Perform administrative duties including assisting with reception relief at the election office as needed and other related duties as required
