JOB SUMMARY
The Intern School Psychologist provides a full range of school psychological services to children grades K12 under the guidance of a mentor school psychologist including screening and assessment individual and group counseling and working with outside agencies as appropriate. The school psychologist is a member of the Individualized Education Plan team to determine students eligibility for special services appropriate programming and ongoing progress.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide individual and group services to children that emphasize improved educational performance
  • Screen and evaluate referred children including selecting appropriate instruments administering tests observations and writing reports which state the evaluation findings and provide for educational program recommendations
  • Participate as a member of the IEP team contributing evaluation findings and collaborating with all members of the team to develop education plans
  • Collaborate with school staff around MTSS implementation Student Study Team meetings and Aspire wide Crisis planning
  • Consult with parents teachers and other staff regarding any accommodations/modifications needed for a specific child
  • Maintain appropriate data on students including present levels of performance and intervention strategies
  • Collaborate to field requests for assessment and provide written response within legal timeline such as an Assessment Plan and/or Prior Written Notice
  • Collaborate with the special education team to design and implement intervention strategies and programs
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) assessments and Educationally Related Mental Health Assessments (ERMHS) as required by IDEA and provide behavior and mental health consultation to IEP team members including support in drafting a strong behavior intervention plan and behavior data tracking systems
  • Establish and monitor necessary caseloads work with schools and other staff to plan assessments and meetings; submit records reports and assignments promptly and efficiently

Additional:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and support the Aspire Public Schools mission vision value statements including antiracism policies and procedures operating instructions confidentiality standards and the code of ethical behavior
  • Actively seeks to improve and simplify Aspires approach to particular job functions
  • Comfortable with utilization of technology in a remote environment
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Competencies:
  • Proven ability to provide timely and meaningful financial analysis in a dynamic highgrowth work environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to students and learning
  • Experience with students grades K12
  • Excellent communication presentation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively and interact effectively with different audiences
  • Excellent organization time management and followup skills; high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple cases concurrently
  • Ability to work as a part of a team
  • Demonstrates ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of his/her duties
  • Deals with obstacles and constraints positively
  • Spanish bilingual preferred but not required

  1. Minimum educational level:
  • Bachelors Degree required; Masters Degree preferred

  1. Experience required:
  • Current enrollment in a graduatelevel educational or school psychology program is required.

  1. Physical requirements:
  • Stand walk or bend over kneel crouch reach overhead grasp push and pull. Move lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height
  • Repetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation simple grasping and power grasping)
  • Demonstrate normal depth perception
  • Sitting walking or standing for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard operate standard office equipment and use a telephone
  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aides

  1. Work authorization requirements:
  • Clear the Department of Justice background screening
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Provide health (TB) clearance (most update every four years)
