As aPublic SectorAudit Intern you will:

  • be assigned to client engagements and gain reallife business experiences by
  • perform audit procedures on financial statements and internal controls.
  • Work with clients across several governmental entities including school districts institutions of higher education municipalities counties and other governmental entities. By working side by side with more experienced team members on various client engagements you will have the opportunity to begin creating your own business network early in your career.

About our Internship Program:

Whitley Penn interns have the opportunity to learn innovate and succeed while working collaboratively with all levels of leadership and management. Our internship program is designed to give you the opportunity to work in a public accounting firm and get a true experience of what the daytoday responsibilities for Associate level professionals are.

Our culture is centered on promoting a healthy work environment and we encourage our interns to grow in both their professional and personal development skills. Interns are provided a mentor throughout the entirety of their internship as they begin to build their brand in the workplace. Interns also go through our professional development program called DEVELOP at WP.

The goal of the DEVELOP program is to:

  • Provide opportunities to expand in your leadership skills
  • Network with peers and cultivate working relationships
  • Engage with firm leaders and develop professional skills

Youre a great fit for the 2026 Public Sector Audit Internship if you:

  • Are pursuing a Bachelors Degree or Masters degree in Accounting
  • Will be CPA eligible upon graduation (within 18 months of internship)
  • Are authorized to work in the U.S. and not require current or future sponsorship
  • Possess good communication skills and professional presence
  • Exhibit a high level of dedication with a positive attitude
  • Are a team player who takes initiative and is willing to learn

Expected Graduation Date with aBachelorsDegree or Masters Degree (CPA Eligible):

  • December 2026
  • May 2027
