What you will do
Responsible for technical product support of Water based Fire Protection Systems in the Americas. The Field Technical Support Engineer is in direct contact with customers and/or via first line customer support in Tyco Fire Protection Products sales organization. Employee will gain exposure to the various types of Fire Protection Systems utilized within the industry today. Candidate will be introduced to design software as well as nationally recognized design and installation standards and the importance of working with Engineering Product management Department personnel for idea and information sharing.
How you will do it
Provide/communicate Technical Support to Sales and Customer Service Personnel as well as AHJs Architects engineers contractors and end users with technical and nontechnical backgrounds.
Support specific product range within our Water based fire protection solutions
Ability to formulate technically sound solutions to customer problems using team input and original research
Study and be proficient in new product offerings or current product revisions as they arise.
Contribute with the creation and/changes to Technical Documentation (Tech Data Sheets FAQs White papers etc)
Provide advice and support by applying Tyco solutions according to international codes & standards (such as NFPA UL FM)
Remain versed in current prescriptive standards such as FM and NFPA as they are updated and revised.
Support New Product Development Projects to both Engineering as well Product Management
Attend and be proactive part of assigned industry technical committees
What we look for
Technical Required Experience:
Associates Degree in Fire Protection or 510 years industry/field experience
Customer focused team player
Problemsolver selfstarter and data/analytics driven. Able to think outside the box
Ability to quickly grasp and distinctly explain relevant technological and business concepts that impact our business
General knowledge of the Fire Protection Engineering principals and awareness of currents industry trends
Ability to grasp technical concepts
Able to multitask in a fastpaced environment
Understanding and application of the applicable NFPA standards in regard to water based fire protection including NFPA 13 NFPA 13R NFPA 13D among others
General awareness of the NFPA standards process
Understanding and application of the applicable FM standards
Solid business communication skills including but not limited style and format of letters memoranda minutes and reports
Writing and communication skills (English)
Strong positive interpersonal skills
Presentation skills
Detailoriented particularly with respect to managing customer satisfaction
Ability to identify need for and develop processes and supporting materials
Wellversed in MS Office Suite including Word Excel and Outlook
The use of SprinkCAD/AutoCAD or willing to be trained.
