Job Description

This is a role with real purpose! We are here to help communities recover from natural disasters. With an increase in extreme weather driven by climate change we are proud to be supporting the delivery of timely and effective disaster recovery resilience and sustainability projects supporting our parent company Disaster Management Australia.

The Company

A1 Services is a Byron Bay based estimating firm providing estimating and project services to the construction industry. Currently working on projects to assist State Governments with their disaster recovery responses we have a team located throughout Australia and are currently seeking additional Insurance Estimators to join our Queensland team. Candidates need to be based in North Queensland.

About the Role

Project Estimators are required to create cost estimates of property repair or demolition works because of damage due to flood and storm events. Estimators are required to work closely with their nominated team leader paying close attention to detail and demonstrating strong work ethic to deliver quality work in a timely manner.

With a desire to build a career in the construction industry you will have a keen eye for detail enjoy problem solving thrive on applying your analytical skills and love numbers to identify solutions. In this role you will demonstrate a great understanding of construction and the endtoend steps in undertaking domestic demolition and refurbishment works.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Attend sites & estimate for building reinstatement works
  • Interpret scope of works provided by consultants
  • Write scope of works documents when required
  • Work in conjunction with supervisors to achieve set budgets
  • Build new & leverage existing relationships with key insurance personnel within the industry
  • Liaise with clients & insurers
  • Coordinate access to properties with insured parties
  • Liaise with & engage subcontractors during quotation stage
  • Ensure all work conforms to legislative & contractual OH&S requirements
  • Ensure inspections certificates & relevant documentation is signed off
  • Contributing to other elements of project delivery

To be considered you will have:

  • Trade background / previous estimating experience
  • Strong Microsoft office suite skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be empathetic to the needs of the client
  • Demonstrated work ethic and ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple & competing priorities
  • Understanding of OHS practices legislation regulations & current market rates/trades
  • Current motor vehicle licence
